Painting at Arosmari
Fully booked for 2023
9 to 16 April 2024
“Happy are the painters, for they shall not be lonely. Light and colour, peace and hope, will keep them company to the end of the day.”
~ Winston Churchill
Crete has long been a source of inspiration for artists thanks to its extraordinarily diverse landscapes and unique beauty. Whatever your aspirations, you’ll find our Arosmari Village Hotel is a wonderfully atmospheric place to hone your painting skills under the expert guidance of our artist in residence, Francesca Harrison. We are delighted she will be joining us for this very special event, offering our guests a unique opportunity to combine a week of blissful relaxation with this exciting programme of painting workshops, exclusively for Simpson Travel guests.
The setting
Arosmari is a peaceful and beautiful oasis with a profoundly creative heart, set in the traditional village of Vamos in the foothills of the White Mountains. Ten beautifully refurbished 1 and 2-bedroom cottages make up the hotel; all ideal for couples, some suitable for those looking to travel with a painting friend or companion. Non-painting partners are encouraged to share the holiday experience and enjoy the idyllic location, perfect for exploring the charming villages and golden beaches of western Crete and the cosmopolitan city of Chania, with its superb restaurants, colourful markets and spectacular Venetian harbour.
The course
The Watercolour Painting course is open to both total beginners and those with a little more experience. All materials will be supplied but guests are welcome to bring their own paints and brushes if preferred. Partners and friends who are not participating are welcome.
“The painting classes by Francesca were a revelation. As total beginners we are now 'hooked'. The peace and quiet of the hotel/village helped to make it a relaxing holiday".
