The bliss of Meganissi is its understated luxury – pristine pebble coves, blue seas and villages peeking out from behind terracotta pots of flowers; Spilia Bay House captures its essence perfectly.
The contemporary living spaces are peaceful echoes of the great outdoors: exposed stone walls, white-painted furniture and splashes of turquoise, with large windows letting in the light and making the views an inside meets outside affair.
From the balcony connecting the two bedrooms, the spacious terrace and the private infinity pool, you can see Spilia Bay below, just 150m away. When the mood takes you (or you’d like a little exercise), you can walk down the steps from your villa and along the road to enjoy those pale sands in person, along with the beach bar, restaurant and sunbeds you’ll find there.
Spartochori is the nearest village, along the road to the left of Spilia Bay and built around a natural port. Surrounded by pine forests, it’s a great spot for walking, shaded from the sun, and long lunches in one of the friendly tavernas.

There are 91 steps down to the villa from where you park the car and 171 steps from the villa down to the small road that leads to the beach. There are also drops in the garden. As a result, Spilia Bay House is not suitable for those with mobility problems or for children under ten.

We stayed at Spilia Bay House and have to say this our favourite holiday to date. The location couldn't have been better, with the most amazing view and a stunning infinity plunge pool overlooking the sea. There were just a few (174!) steps down to the beautiful beach with a taverna and a few more steps to the boat hire place. It was handy to have a hire car to get to the lovely town of Vathy for more tavernas (all are excellent!) and shops. We loved the fact that it was quiet but there were enough people around to feel as though we were not alone and it was lovely to watch the yachts coming and going. The locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming and so laid back, the most relaxed hire car company that we have used! The car park in town was free to use and didn't seem to be too busy. We were sad to leave, so know that we will definitely go back again!.
A wonderful two weeks on Meganisi. Some of the best beaches we have ever visited and fantastic food. Maria, the local concierge, is incredibly helpful at getting the most from your stay. Thanks again Simpson!
We’ve had a fabulous week at Spilia Bay House! The view from the terrace is stunning and swimming in the infinity pool overlooking the bay is what I will miss most! The transfers were effortless, and as usual we were looked after by the wonderful Simpson team, from start to finish! Maria, in particular, was incredibly helpful and knowledgable, and always available to help out with any requests! It was a perfect holiday, plenty to do and see on the little island, some fabulous restaurants, and we will definitely be back!
A fantastic villa placed in an enviable position on the island.
The organisation to make our journey comfortable and stress free was excellent. We were greeted at the airport and put in a private taxi and then transferred to a private water taxi. We were met on the Island by the representative, and it all ran very smoothly. Our cases were delivered to our villa, and picked up at the end of our stay. The villa and pool were great and had everything we needed, for a relaxing stay. Our second time with Simpson, and we will definitely book with them again.
Our first visit to Meganissi – a wonderful find…and in our opinion Spilia Bay House is the pick of the island. We have enjoyed popping up the hill to see the sunrise and the stroll down even more (!), watching the sun touch Spartochori and the peace and tranquillity of Spilia Bay. We have enjoyed exploring parts of the island walking and driving. We have greatly enjoyed our stay, with especial thanks to Maria and all the Simpson team. We hope to return.

We had the perfect stay with many relaxing days spent by the pool and down on Spilia Beach. We ate at the taverna on the beach several times and then had our daily exercise walking back up the steps. Best of all was watching the world go by in the little port and enjoying the changing scenery at different times of day. Thank you Simpson for a lovely stay.
We’ve had a lovely week in this gorgeous villa. The service from Simpson was exceptional (as always) – the water taxi, airport transfer, even the taxi man carrying our luggage up/down the steps. Highly recommend boat hire for a day. Both beach tavernas were good. We had no Wi-Fi when we arrived due to the thunderstorm the previous day. Thanks to Maria, new router delivered and installed in record time – even without Amazon Prime! Maria was brilliant.

We’ve been travelling with Simpson for a number of years now, and Spilia has been one of our favourites. It can’t be faulted – great location, facilities, wonderful people and island. We relaxed just lazing by the pool, watching the world go by or out and about in the car or a boat. We had a great time.
Wonderful relaxing week in this super villa. We have discovered everything we wanted and more. Stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and when not tripping out and about it has been a delight to sit in the garden, listen to the birds, watch the swallows swoop down to the pool, whilst enjoying the daily activities in the bay below.

Our holiday on the island of Meganissi was perfect in all respects. It is a delightful destination, beautiful scenery and three small villages that have so far resisted the temptation to become over developed. Our villa accommodation was excellent, overlooking Spilia Bay we were very comfortable and enjoyed marvellous water and woodland views. Having the use of a car enabled us to explore Meganissi and the villages, harbour and lovely olive groves.
Spilia Bay House is perfectly located up on the hillside overlooking the beach and bay, allowing you to enjoy the view in privacy yet be just a five-minute walk from the beach. With pool and beach on our doorstep we didn't need to venture far, but enjoyed morning walks to Spartachori for supermarket shopping/iced coffee and evenings in Vathy (a 10-minute drive away), where there is a good range of restaurants round the harbour. The house is immaculate, comfortable and well equipped, with several terraces/balconies overlooking the bay, and the infinity pool is wonderful for relaxing and cooling off.
Fabulous stay in this fab villa on such a beautiful island. This is our third visit to Meganissi and it's lovely to see much unchanged. Let's hope it stays that way.

Very quiet, relaxing and rejuvenating. Views to die for! The location of the villa was very private but accessible to a beach bar and good restaurant. A short ten minute drive to the village of Vathey that had all the amenities. Steps down to the beach kept us fit if we could drag ourselves away from sunbathing around the pool.
Another fabulous holiday with Simpson Travel! Spilia Bay House has the most stunning views from every room and outside area. Don’t forget your binoculars to watch the fascinating comings and goings of the vehicle ferries, yachts and little tourist motorboats which will keep you fascinated for hours on end. The house is immaculate and credit should be given for the twice weekly cleaning, which was extremely thorough. There are a few good restaurants in Spartochori (20-min walk) but it is worth driving to Vathy on some evenings for more choice. Don’t be put off by the number of outside steps – you soon get used to them and they help burn off some calories gained during the delicious dinners!
We had a great second week of our holiday at Spilia Bay House on Meganissi. Beautiful little island and the house is stunning overlooking the bay and over to Spartachori. Lovely tavernas down the hill and just a short drive to Vathy with lots of bars and tavernas. Ideal for a peaceful and relaxing break. Rania from Simpson looked after us so well and Simpson think and take care of every little detail. Very high quality service and accommodation. Just wonderful.
We’ve just returned from our 7th Simpson Travel holiday, our 6th in the Ionian Islands. It couldn’t have been more perfect, from the pre-holiday communications and help from both the UK head office and local operations headed up by Chris, to the on-island assistance of the lovely Rania who all worked tirelessly to make sure our experience was up to the usual 5-star Simpson standard. And it certainly was! The journey was seamless and incredibly safe with the new protocols in place for travel and the island and all the wonderful taverna owners and shopkeepers welcomed us back with open arms, a smile and “yassas”! We felt incredibly grateful to be there; the island was a little quite but was definitely picking up, and as usual our villa accommodation was spotless, comfortable and Simpson Travel had thought of everything we needed. A faultless holiday experience, we cannot recommend them enough, and we will return! Greece is open and safe and will give you a very warm welcome.

A more beautiful place would be hard to find. We have loved our week – eating delicious fish (sea bream galore!), discovering beaches around the island and savouring the delights of the house and the bay with its lovely taverna where the welcome was so warm and the food some of the best. A lovely week spent on Meganissi. Villa is fabulous with a view that you could look at forever! Got sort of used to the steps! We parked at the bottom beach car park sometimes to avoid the hill start on the drive. Took a boat out on two days – really nice way to see the island. Stopped at a taverna (Il Paradiso) – they help you moor up. Rebecca – great, very helpful when needed. Love Vathy – all of it really!
We’ve had a wonderfully relaxing week, just what we needed. We’ve travelled with Simpson for a few years now and they never fail to provide quality accommodation, quality service and quality time. Thank you! We had an amazing adventure, riding the buggies to the tail of the island. You need a head for heights though. The views were breathtaking and the drive exciting. We also took a boat out for a day and experienced the busy waterways first hand. Vathy seems to have an understated sophistication about it, whilst retaining its charm. We enjoyed all the tavernas we went to, including the restaurant near the beach bar below.

We have returned to this lovely villa and location exactly one year on and love it as much, if not more than last year. Do drive on the white road along the coast for beautiful swims and simple lunches overlooking the sea. Rebecca and Harris as helpful as ever, we can’t wait to come back again.

Loved our laidback week on this island. The steps do get easier and we snorkelled down in the bay morning and late afternoon – lots to see underwater. We walked to Spartochori via the beach a couple of times – very pleasant. Rebecca and her team were the best Simpson experience we’ve had and we use Simpson because we like what we get. All in all a fabulous place – we’ll return.
Two weeks on Meganissi! We reached new levels of relaxation. Rebecca is fabulous – couldn’t be more helpful! After two weeks the steps were not problem and Mike’s hill starts in the car were impeccable. Very special island and hope they keep development down.
Fantastic week in a glorious villa. Spent most of the week watching boats come and go with the highlight being the 97m mega yacht! We all had a great time and hope to be back again.
We have had a fantastic and extremely relaxing week. Rebecca organised for us to have a boat for the day from Vathy – a great way to see the island from a different perspective and some great swimming/snorkelling in clear blue waters. A lovely quiet island and one which we would love to return to.
After a week of sleeping, eating and relaxing we’ve come to the simple conclusion that Meganissi is pretty darn cool. Wherever you go on this pretty little island there will be a place you probably won’t forget. Everyone is super helpful.

We were here in September last year – it didn’t take long for us to return! This place is really fantastic; ticks all the boxes so hard to beat. This year we revisited all our favourite beaches. We love the location of the beach taverna on Spilia Beach, great to simply wander up the stairs back home after diner. Food there is fine, but for a really wonderful meal – Erikkos in Vathy.
Booking the holiday was very easy, the pre-departure team very efficient. The villa lived up to everything we expected and more. Rebecca, the rep on the island, was very good. In all a great experience. Absolutely loved it!

Spillia Bay House is simply the best spot on the gorgeous unspoiled island of Meganissi. What a view! We could hardly stir ourselves from watching the comings and goings of the bay below from the fantastic pool. The beautiful villa was contemporary with clean lines and everything had been thought of for our comfort and enjoyment, it provided a cool sanctuary after a day's sightseeing. Having the beach only a walk away meant that we could maximise our days. The local rep was a mine of useful information anticipating or responding to our every need. The locals are so friendly and English widely spoken. We almost don't want to let anyone else in on this secret as we would like to keep this slice of Ionian heaven all for ourselves.

Local life potters along as it’s done for centuries and there are no bustling resorts on Meganissi, just three flower-filled villages – and yet you’ll still see luxury yachts moored in the harbours. Warmly welcoming, this island is also beautifully unspoilt; its coastline dotted with gleaming white beaches, some accessible only by boat or kayak.
