Tiny Paxos is no party island, but if you’re looking for a little high-summer buzz to complement the stunning natural beauty, this is the house for you.

Located within walking distance of the capital Gaios, this new (2024) and beautifully contemporary five-bedroom villa is ideal for a group of friends or a family party with teenagers. With three separate terrace areas, a luxurious day-bed and a generously-sized pool, there’s a cool, beach-club feel to the outdoor space, which is nicely complemented by the boutique interiors. All the bedrooms are en-suite, with balconies for the upper floor ones and air-conditioning to ensure a good night’s sleep.

It feels like a privilege to have all this to yourselves on an island where beaches are mostly petite and space is at a premium, but perhaps the greatest benefit at VK House is the proximity of Gaios, just a five minute walk away. In the summer months this sleepy port takes on a cosmopolitan air as its smart bars and tavernas spill out onto the quayside and boats from all over Europe bob in the harbour. Colourful Venetian-era buildings house tempting little boutiques, and even if you’re not a shopper, this is a fantastic place to enjoy a waterside gelato or a frappé and watch the world go happily by. Once the sun drops low and the day visitors from Corfu have departed, you can stroll out for drinks and dinner, and if some of your party want to stay out a little longer, the superb location of VK House means everyone is free to come and go and they please, no driver required.

Transfers

Barely eight miles from tip to tail, Paxos is pint-sized perfection. The only way to get here is by boat from Corfu, which rules out mass development and makes room for a true luxury villa holiday experience.
