It’s a quintessentially Greek pursuit to hire a little boat and go exploring, but few holiday villas offer you a place to moor it or indeed have the elegance of Villa Melia. With its own pontoon, giving you direct access to the clear waters of the Ionian, and spectacular views across an idyllic bay, this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in island life.
Lovingly designed and built by the owner, this villa is contemporary in flavour – crisp edges and clean lines offering stark contrast to the rugged landscape all around. An open-plan living room and kitchen open fully to the outside, as does one of the villa’s three bedrooms – the two upstairs having spacious sea-facing balconies (and each of the three boasting a stylish en-suite).
Nikiana is the location: a laid-back haven of a resort where a couple of good tavernas lie within easy walking distance. The beachfront bars and restaurants of Nikiana Beach are just a five-minute drive along the island’s attractive east coast.
Slightly further afield, Lefkada town and lively Nidri are easily reachable by car – both offering plenty to keep families with teenagers entertained. But first they’ll need tempting away from that rather special pontoon – such a rarity in Greece – and the impressive snorkelling and swimming it invites you to enjoy.
Villa Melia sits on the hillside between Villa Selina and Villa Simi; booked in combination, the villas afford a wonderful opportunity for larger groups to enjoy this special spot. Although they are close, the private infinity pools are not within full sight of each other, so you can sun yourself poolside, and still have a sense of privacy thanks to a garden in between and a number of well-placed screens.

We lost count of the amount of times we said “wow” to the amazing views from every room in the house. We struggled to tear ourselves away with such a lovely pool and private jetty. We snorkelled from the jetty – there were loads of fish. Yiannis made some excellent recommendations for restaurants Thank you for an amazing holiday.
Amazing week at Villa Melia. We loved the views from the villa and enjoyed relaxing by the pool and jumping off the pontoon. The villa has everything you need. Yiannis was so helpful and recommended some great restaurants. Highlight of the week was hiring a boat for a few days and exploring the islands, the coves and having lunches on Meganissi. Great stay at Villa Simi. Enjoyed the dock with our rented SUPs. Fantastic view from the swimming pool. We will miss it! Yiannis was brilliant, so helpful. We ate out a lot and had a fantastic boat trip.
We are a family of 5, two adults and three older teenagers. The villa was fabulous, we really didn't need to leave during the day as it was a great setting for lunch and there was an abundance of small supermarkets a 2-minute drive away with brilliant produce. There is a small jetty for diving in the sea at the bottom of the lane, an amazing taverna a few minutes walk away, and the town is about a five-minute drive and the roads are easy to drive on. To make the holiday even more special, our on hand Villa Manager Yiannis booked taxis and restaurants and gave us great advice as to where to go and what to do. This is by far the best villa we have stayed at in Greece, we would thoroughly recommend and Simpson were fabulous to deal with.
Absolutely heavenly. What a perfect spot. Exquisite position with amazing view and the once-in-a-lifetime private pontoon! Great for whole family - plenty of space to be together or independent. Loved local restaurants, all recommended by Yiannis. First time in Greece and with Simpson - won't be the last!

We’ve so enjoyed staying at Melia – relaxing by the pool and having a great time on the pontoon. Really appreciated the aircon during the heat wave! So many great places to explore along the coastline and into the mountains.
Yiannis – what a lovely human being he is and so helpful throughout our stay; booking restaurants, sorting bits and bobs needed in the villa, always so cheerful and making us laugh – thank you. The villa – perfect location and facilities. Everyone happy with their rooms. Fabulous access to the sea for swims and had to tear ourselves away. We ate in the villa 3/7 nights – thanks to Lidl and a well-equipped kitchen. Yiannis found us a gym, which was very well kitted up. We went on a 4-hour sea kayak tour to the Blue Caves (with snorkelling and a picnic lunch). We walked up to the waterfall Nydri, it was pleasant but very busy and not much water at this time of year. Apart from this we just chilled, ate, swam and read.

Wow, what a lovely villa with the most wonderful view from every room and outside. So very difficult to tear ourselves away to do anything else, but chill whilst looking at it! What a magical week we have had! We absolutely loved staying in this beautiful villa and fell in love with Lefkada. From the most pristine waters to the wonderful friendly people to the most delicious food – who could ask for more? We cannot wait to return.
Great views, a lovely refreshing pool, and excellent swimming off the pontoon. On clear nights the sky was wonderful to gaze at.
Villa Melia was a delight. The views were stunning and the accommodation was modern and very comfortable. The shared pontoon in the sea below was an added bonus if you can manage the steps. Supermarkets & Tavernas were within easy reach in Nikiana. There is a steep incline down to the villa so would not recommend for anyone with disabilities. Ioannis, our local concierge, was extremely helpful and responded very quickly to our requests.
These two villas are perfect for two families! They are absolutely stunning and the view with the infinity pools is unbeatable. We had such a brilliant holiday and didn’t want to leave. Villa Simi is particularly special, very spacious and a perfect space to host a bbq for the two families on the evenings we didn’t go out. We had some beautiful meals in Nikiana. We arrived at Villa Melia after a very long, hot week sailing around the Southern Ionian Islands, so the pool, air conditioning and comfortable beds were our main priorities! The villa is wonderfully equipped and perfectly situated for a week of lazing around the pool and watching the incredible views. We explored some of the excellent suggestions and also recommend the excellent fish at Miras, the family-friendly and inexpensive harbour and exploring the gorgeous harbours of Sivota, by boat or car. Villa Melia is a beautiful, well-designed and furnished villa that was a pleasure to live in. Large windows in every room make the most of the amazing views across the bay to the mountains of mainland Greece. Watch as sunrise reddens the sky above the mountains before lighting up both sky and sea in changing shades of orange, pink and yellow. Take a snorkel as shoals of fish shelter under the jetty. There are two excellent tavernas a short walk away and the rest of Lefkada is in easy driving distance, if you can drag yourself away from such a peaceful place.
Have had an amazing holiday in a fabulous villa. The jetty was a highlight ; we spent a lot of time swimming in the sea. We ate out every night even though we could have stayed at the villa. All of the local tavernas had a lovely atmosphere and provided all of the traditional Greek food that you could want. All in all – a fabulous relaxing holiday!
Fabulous villa with everything thought of. Good base for exploring the island, contrasts of the climb up to Karya – sleepy mountain village and pretty old town of Lefkus. With lovely views everywhere. We will definitely miss this beautiful view!
We had a wonderful stay in this villa, very enjoyable. The pool was a lot of fun and was used almost everyday! As well as the pool, the pontoon was also made use of through swimming and boating. We rented a boat on one of our last days and we enjoyed it very much. The food in Lefkada was lovely as well as the wine. Hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did.
