NEW FOR 2025
Owned and designed by a Michelin-star chef, this delightful small hotel is a charming foodie retreat and an homage to all things Limousin. The house was once home to prosperous porcelain manufacturers from nearby Limoges, and has belonged to the Dudognon family since the 1960s. The Dudognons are passionate collectors, and have put their mark on the place with original artworks and brocante treasures amassed over decades, now artfully displayed throughout the elegant public rooms.
In contrast to its rather ornate interiors, La Chapelle Saint Martin sits in 40 acres of semi-wild parkland, and guests are free to roam through the beautiful mature woodlands and around the lake. A leg stretch may be particularly welcome before or after treating yourself to dinner; chef Gilles draws on traditional dishes and authentic local ingredients to produce menus that honour the region, and a meal here – be it in the formal Saint-Martin restaurant, the more casual garden restaurant or even a private luxury picnic in the lake house – is a literal feast for the senses.
The guest rooms are stylish and romantic, mixing antiques with more contemporary touches, and air-conditioned for comfort in the high summer months. Your hosts Gilles and Aude are passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the local region, and with their guidance you could easily spend a wonderful week here enjoying a wide range of optional extra activities, from a leather factory tour and shoe-making experience to seasonal mushroom picking or a cookery class. Alternatively, why not extend your stay or break your journey with a few indulgent nights here on your way to or from one of our villas, and enjoy a magnificent start or end to your French holiday.
An in-villa chef and meal delivery service is available by arrangement at all our French villas

Our choice of French properties is diverse, ranging from simple charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal.
To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

From the Dordogne’s forest-covered hillsides to the undulating countryside of Lot-et-Garonne, these fertile landscapes have long played their part in human history – the famous Lascaux cave paintings testify to that. For a taste of spectacular coastline on your holiday, head to Charente-Maritime or find a lakeside beach that’s perfect for a picnic – this region is known for its abundant food and excellent wines. Choose a restaurant in an ancient village square and enjoy the sense of history repeated.
And for a place to stay in Dordogne and the South West, explore our collection of luxury villas.
