Nestled onto a small peninsula surrounded by the sea, the concept in question at this stylish small hotel is beautifully minimalist design that lets the natural beauty of its stunning location shine through. It’s a very successful formula, creating an oasis of understated luxury just metres from the water’s edge, enviably close to all the attractions of Agios Nikolaos.
The hotel looks directly out over the Mirabello Gulf, with a heated infinity pool that appears to float above the translucent turquoise waters below. With just 15 rooms, the atmosphere is relaxed and intimate, a heavenly spot for a honeymoon or anniversary celebration. The views from the pool are sublime, and if you prefer sand between your toes, just wander down to the adjacent private beach (exclusive to hotel guests), where your sunbed awaits and drinks and snacks can be ordered effortlessly using the hotel’s own app. Massages and beauty treatments can be arranged in the spa or the privacy of your suite, the majority of which have their own Jacuzzi or small swimming pool for days when you just want to be alone together. Private dining is also an option, though the pull of cocktails at the pool bar could be very hard to resist.
Nearby Agios Nikolaos is one of Crete’s most cosmopolitan destinations; it’s a year-round active fishing port that dresses up for summer, when tavernas and small shops spill out onto the harbourside to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. The town is also ideally placed for exploring further into the local area, be it a boat trip to Spinalonga, a hike into the Richtis Gorge or a leisurely hour or two discovering picturesque Elounda.
