A well located villa with expansive views and a high degree of privacy. Close enough to walk into Almyrida with it's safe shallow bay for sea swims. Local villages nearby feature a slice of Cretan life with excellent restaurants offering well above average cuisine at a competitive price. The owner is charming and helpful. A car is a must.

Villa Asteriskos is very spacious, comfortable and extremely well equipped. We enjoyed the expansive views over Souda Bay from the terrace and pool. Almyrida, a 15-minute walk away, has plenty of cafés and restaurants, a bakery and supermarkets, and a beautiful sandy beach with crystal-clear water. We particularly enjoyed visiting Chania and the Botanical Park and Gardens at Fournes, and we had a great boat trip with Antonis Boat Rental. Many thanks to Stelios for loaning us his beautiful villa, and to Janice, the Simpson Travel representative, for her kindness, efficiency and continuous availability.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Villa Asteriskos. It was probably one of the best equipped villas we have stayed in and we have been renting Greek villas for over 20 years! We didn't mind the walk down to the village at all (15 mins) and it was very easy to get a taxi back in the evening if we needed to. Almyrida was a lovely village and we would return. We would also definitely use Simpson Travel for future holidays, the level of service was impressive.

What a great villa in a fabulous place. The views of the Gulf of Chania to one side and to the White Mountains to another side were fantastic; but the villa also has orange and lemon trees in the garden ready to pick - even in early April - which were lovely in the G&T's that we drank on the terrace overlooking the pool. You could easily see into Almyrida - down to the beach and the Tavernas, but it was so quiet that you could be forgiven for thinking you were the only person around. A pretty much perfect holiday venue.

We loved our Simpson Travel trip to Crete. The villa was one of the best we've stayed in and everything on the website is accurate – it was perfect for an October holiday – and the location near Almyrida was lovely. The car hire was also really well done – collection and drop off right at the airport with insurance all taken care of, and the company representatives were really friendly and good. Klaudia, the Simpson representative, was really good and extra kudos to her for her animal charity work. Would definitely use Simpson again on the back of this holiday.

Excellent villa in a great location convenient for town. Although the owner was unable to greet us due to personal circumstances he did leave a great welcome pack and, when he popped round mid-week with the cleaner, a rather good bottle of sparkling wine. As well as being scrupulously clean a bonus was a properly equipped kitchen. Thoroughly recommended and we are considering staying again. Ray was, as previously, very professional and helpful.

We stayed at Villa Asteriskos for part of our honeymoon and we are so glad we choose this property. The view was breathtaking and the perfect balance between being close to towns, beaches and activities but also a nice, tucked away villa with plenty of peace and quiet. Asteriskos is a fantastic villa. We loved everything, but especially the flowers in the garden and the grapes! It’s in a brilliant location – the views from the villa…well you need all day to do them justice! Octopus Bay is fantastic for snorkelling and horse riding in Kavros was brilliant fun. Aptera has atmospheric ruins in a typically low key Greek way. In Almyrida we found the harbour side beach the best – it’s lovely. Thank you Simpson Travel and also Ray for his brilliant advice and help. Every recommendation was spot on.

This was our third trip with Simpson Travel and it was, as ever, superb. Booking was straightforward, communication excellent, the flights smooth, the villa incredible and the support from Ray, our rep in Crete, was incredibly helpful. The villa owner left local wine each week and also picked a lovely tray of fresh strawberries from the villa garden. Having travelled independently for many years, I now appreciate more the value of having a rep at the airport ready to point you in the right direction, help you with the car pick-up, and give you crucial insights into the local area. Great villa, with fantastic views to coast and mountains; and lovely hosts who were there to meet us. They came to clean later in the week with a bottle of wine as a gift, and took the time to chat and tell us about the property, island and culture. What's not to like? The rep (Ray) met us and made sure we arrived at the villa (we followed him from the airport), exchanged numbers and made sure we knew where everything was, etc. He respected our request for no meeting but did arrange to pop back at the end of the week to check there were no issues, and check we knew the way back to the airport. Highly recommended villa, great location, and knowledgeable, helpful rep.
