Meganissi has rapidly established itself as a real Simpson Travel favourite, thanks to its signature relaxed pace and authentic charm that have all but disappeared from many of the larger Greek islands. Conscious of the need to protect this delightful landscape, the locals also seem to have perfected the knack of building traditional stone houses with smart contemporary interiors, and Villa Akoni is a fine new example of the style.
The house is one of a trio of villas, each with its own private pool and terrace, overlooking Ambelaki Bay in the north of the island. You can sit here all day long and watch the yachts coming and going in the bay, but the real beauty of this spot is that it’s walking distance from Vathy. The village sits at the head of a deep natural inlet, a magnet for sailing boats in the summer months, and therefore well provided with cafés and tavernas. If you get here at the right time you can get fish straight from the waterside, but if you miss the boat this is still a wonderful spot to people watch and take a lesson from the locals in the art of easy living. Katomeri, with its very traditional architecture and local tavernas is just a couple of minutes away by car, and the pretty beach of Fanari is only a five minute drive.
Villa Akoni sits separately in a small cluster of neighbouring villas that includes Villa Taphian and Villa Mentes, which are identical in style and layout.

We enjoyed a fabulous holiday in Villa Akoni. The location was perfect; great views, peaceful yet only a relatively easy walk from the delightful village of Vathy. We are already planning our next visit!

Fabulous fortnight at this amazing villa. Our 14th year with Simpson and probably the nicest villa and location. We spent many happy hours lazing by the pool and have been entertained by the birds, which also love the pool, the super yachts coming and going, awesome storms, and all manner of other weathers.
We’ve had a wonderful two weeks at Villa Akoni – the perfect location for walking into Vathi for drinks and dinner. Thank you Maria for all your help, very much appreciated. We very much hope to come back to Meganissi and this lovely villa.

A superb week at this lovely villa. We have stayed in all three (Mentes and Taphian) and this is our favourite! We had a great holiday at Villa Akoni…from the moment we arrived we settled in to a relaxing routine and the view out to the bay was beautiful. The pool was perfect and we had a barbecue night and had all the utensils needed there. We highly recommend this villa on the beautiful island of Meganissi!

Villa Akoni is our favourite villa in Meganisi and it never disappoints - this was our fifth visit there. The view is stunning and watching the activity of the yachts in the bay with a glass of something good before we walk down to Vathy for dinner is one of our favourite moments. That said an early morning swim at one of the deserted beaches comes a very close second. The villa itself is well equipped and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
We had not been away since 2019 so we booked with Simpsons confident of your high standards. We were not disappointed, and look forward to our next Simpson holiday, having only just discovered Simpsons pre pandemic. Meganissi is a wonderful remote Island. We hardly needed a car, and indeed I walked further, and swam almost as far that week than we drove in the car. I would go off walking with my back pack in the morning and find a pebbled beach, staircase to Jetty, or some rocks, dive in and wallow in the beautiful Agean sea. Then wander home, pick up bread and Croissants in the baker, or we'd have breakfast in the village. We had the odd beer watching the comings and goings of the many Yachts some days...we hired a boat took a picnic and went around the Island at our leisure stopping at a deserted beach for a picnic and swim. Its a yacht person's haven, and that only adds to the charm. Rania was lovely, and so organised and professional, yet totally unobtrusive.

For many years we as a family have opted for villa holidays and have experienced packaged villa holidays and bespoke villa getaways. This was the first time we had travelled with Simpson and we believe that we'll be hard-pressed to find another company to match up to them. Although we organised our own flights our Simpson Concierge contact, Rania, was at the end of an email/text to help us through all transfer arrangements, even rearranging our pick up and transfer times (by car and water taxi) when our airline carrier arrived 2 hours late at our destination airport. Plus, after a full days work organising change overs, Rania waited at the quayside for our water taxi to arrive and welcome us and even organised for a local restaurant (Stavros') to cook some food for us to takeaway as they had closed for the night. Our villa (Akoni) was the first villa we had stayed in where the actual place looked better than the website photos. Anyone choosing this place will be in for a treat - it was faultless. Our overriding experience of the location and Simpson in particular is that you really are travelling with a company that cares and carefully chooses it's destinations and is serious in making sure your experience of that place is perfect. This review might sound a bit 'gushing' but our Simpson experience really was more than we could have hoped for.
We had a fantastic stay in Meganissi, the third time in five years. We booked a year ago and it has to be said, the pre-booking and pre-departure help and advice from Ed and Holly was wonderful including the PLF for Greece and Covid testing requirements. Reception at Preveza was first class and the transfer to Meganissi was seamless, as was the vehicle pick up at Vathy. It was lovely having Rania on the island for the second year and the villa was first class. Thanks for arranging the boat Rania – a good expedition. UK PLF duly filled in and lateral flow tests successfully completed, after three sunny weeks we reluctantly went home. Another lovely holiday with Simpson Travel who we have been using for well over 10 years. Next year already booked! Many thanks to all of you.

We felt incredibly grateful to be there; the island was a little quiet but was definitely picking up, and as usual our villa accommodation was spotlessly comfortable and Simpson Travel had thought of everything we needed. A faultless holiday experience, we cannot recommend them enough, and we will return! Greece is open and safe and will give you a very warm welcome.

Villa Akoni is the most wonderful villa in a splendid location. The large outdoor space combined with the villa's closeness to the wonderful harbour of Vathy made this the perfect holiday choice for us. The villa itself inside was spotless and very comfortable, the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in when on holiday. Very homely, we would definitely recommend.
The journeys to and from Meganissi were on time, comfortable and well organised – the Simpson Travel team looked after us very well – as Rebecca and Nikos continued to do throughout the holiday. The villa was one of the best equipped and furnished that we have stayed in and everything was spotlessly clean and worked! The views from the property were amazing. We enjoyed being in easy walking distance of Vathi, notwithstanding the hill on the way back, and dining in Vathi was excellent. There were excellent walks available from the villa without the need to use a car, many of which included more remote beaches with excellent swimming. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.
The location of Villa Akoni is superb – amazing views, secluded from the neighbours and such an easy to walk to Vathy and a relatively short drive anywhere. Rebecca, the Simpson Travel representative on Meganissi, is amazing – she was always happy to help with any questions or requests. Chris and Natasha at Preveza also provided a great first introduction to Simpson Travel on the ground – they were so warm and friendly. I will definitely book with Simpson again. It’s about 20 years since I last travelled on a package, always preferring to do my own thing – Simpson Travel has shown me package holidays in a new light!

Akoni is ideally located with a view of the two lovely bays close to Vathy. The villa is built to very high standards with great views and is very close to the port’s amenities. A short walk takes you to some lovely restaurants and bars which are unspoilt and serve excellent food. An amazing place and tough to beat.
Meganissi is an idyllic island with breathtaking scenery where you go. We particularly enjoyed the drive to Agios Ioannis via Stravnam and the two local walks around Vathy. We also spent endless hours of pleasure watching the boats come and go from the villa’s balcony. Many thanks to Simpson Travel and Rebecca for a truly wonderful holiday in an excellent villa – we hope to be back soon.
A beautiful villa in a fantastic location. This was our third family holiday in Meganissi and this was definitely the villa with the best views. Our teenage children ended up voting for Fanari as their favourite beach – I think it was the reggae beach bar and backgammon that swung it. Rebecca has been absolutely fantastic. We had some very difficult family issues back in the UK at the beginning of the holiday and Rebecca went above and beyond to help us navigate our way through that.

Local life potters along as it’s done for centuries and there are no bustling resorts on Meganissi, just three flower-filled villages – and yet you’ll still see luxury yachts moored in the harbours. Warmly welcoming, this island is also beautifully unspoilt; its coastline dotted with gleaming white beaches, some accessible only by boat or kayak. Inland, the rolling hills make for wonderful walking country, with shady pine forests and spectacular blue seas beyond.
